Professor Li Guikui was born in Yinan xian, Shandong Provincein 1967. He graduated from Qufu Normal University in 1989 with a BA degree, andreceived his MA degree from the same university in 1999. From 1989 to 2005, he worked at Linyi University (formerly Linyi Normal University). He graduated from Fudan University in 2005 with a Ph.D in Literature. In the same year, he became a faculty member of Shanghai University of Finance and Economics, where he was promoted to the rank of Professor in 2010. He serves as the Organizing Vice-president and General Secretary of the Association for Studies of Strange Tales From a Chinese Studio. He also serves as an organizing director of the following scholarly organizations: the Chinese Association for the Study of Narratology, the Chinese Society for the Study of Ming-Dynasty Literature, the SocietyforScholarship on The Unofficial History of the Scholars, and the Society for Scholarship on The Plum in the Golden Vase.At the same time, Professor Li also serves on the board of directors of the Shanghai Academy of Classical Literature bet365 best casino gamesand the Shanghai Academy of Aesthetics, and so on. His research scholarship is focused on the novels of the Ming and Qing dynasties and traditional Chinese literary theory (principally in the area of narratology in general, and people-focused narratology in particular.)
In his research work, Professor Li has completed one National-level government sponsored Research Project in Philosophy and the Social Sciences, and one Major Key Base Research Project under the aegis of the Ministry of Education. He is currently supervising, as principal investigator, a key project sponsored by the National Foundation for Philosophy and the Social Sciences, as well as two sub-projects affiliated with a major project sponsored by the same foundation. Professor Li’s major scholarly writings and publications include the following:A Study of People-focused Writing in Chinese Novels, The Life-Reading-New Knowledge Sanlian Bookstore Publishers, 2015; Ten Lectures on The Novel and the Visions of Human Life, Qinghua University Press, 2013;Tri-dimensionality Theory and the Theory of Time in the Narratology in Traditional Chinese Novels, Shanghai Bookstore Publishing House, 2009; Narrative Form and the Worldview of Materialistic Desire in the Novels of the Yuan and Ming Dynasties, Ancient Books Publishing House, Shanghai, 2008. In addition, Professor Lihas published more than one hundred academic papers and articles in scholarly journals such as Literary Review and Studies in Literature and Art.
Professor Li’s focuses teaching on curriculum development and on the assessment of pedagogical effectiveness. Courses for which he is principally responsible have been acclaimed and selected to be included in Shanghai Municipality’s “Outstanding Curriculum” and “Key Curriculum.” He was, for three consecutive years, acclaimed by students as “A Good Teacher in My Opinion.” Currently, in Shandong University’s School of Literature, Professor Li primarily offers, for undergraduates, Bet365 gamescourses such as “History of Chinese Literature, with Selected Readings" and, for MA students and Ph.D students, he offers courses "Studies of Chinese Novels and Dramatic Works", "Classics of Chinese Drama" and "Research Methodologies in the Humanities".For his research achievements and publications, Professor Li has won aLevel-Two Prize for Achievement of Excellence in Philosophy and the Social Sciences in Shanghai Municipality, as well as a Level-Three Prize for Achievement of Excellence in Philosophy and the Social Sciences in Shandong Province.
